USB-C Ethernet Cable

The USB-C Ethernet Cable connects a USB-C iPad or iPhone to gigabit ethernet – providing a network connection that delivers higher reliability and lower latency than wireless networking.

Once the Cable is connected to an iPad or iPhone it is instantly recognized as a network connection that is available for use by an iOS app. Use the “Settings” app on your iPad or iPhone to configure the network connection.

Support

If your Redpark cable is not working properly try these troubleshooting steps below.

Power your iPhone OFF and then ON again. (Do not simply put the iPhone to sleep. Power it completely OFF and then ON.)

If the problem continues to exist…

Confirm that your iPhone/iPad detects the cable:

  • Connect your cable to the iPhone
  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  • Confirm that “Ethernet” appears in between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

If the iPhone IS detecting the cable:

Use the Settings app to check the configuration of the ethernet connection.

If the iPhone IS NOT detecting the cable:

  • Make sure the case on your iPhone is not preventing the cable from being fully inserted into the USB-C connector of your iPhone.
  • Use a toothpick or safety pin to remove any debris that might have accumulated in the connector of your iPhone.
  • Try the cable on a 2nd iPhone or iPad to see if you get the same results. If the cable works OK on the 2nd iOS device then it is likely that cable is good.  If the cable does not work on the 2nd iOS device and the cable is within the one year warranty please return the cable to Redpark to be tested.

If you choose to email Redpark for assistance, please email “service@staging.redpark.com”.

USB-C Ethernet Cable FAQ

How do I configure the network connection?

Using the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Once the Adapter is connected to an iPad or iPhone, “Ethernet” will appear in the Settings app in between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Both DHCP and Static IP addresses are supported.

What apps can I use with the USB-C Ethernet Cable?

The network connection is available to be used by any iOS app. Please note that the FaceTime, Messages and Wi-Fi Calling apps do not currently support ethernet.

What is the maximum bandwidth of the ethernet connection?

The USB-C Ethernet Cable is a specialty form of USB 2 to Ethernet Adapter. It will provide bandwidth of roughly 300+ Mbps when connected to Gigabit ethernet.

Can I share an iPad’s or iPhone’s cellular data connection over the ethernet connection?

Not currently. Perhaps a future version of iOS will support this.

Can I choose to use Wi-Fi when the USB-C Ethernet Cable is connected?

Not currently. Perhaps a future version of iOS will provide the ability to select a network connection if multiple network connections exist.

Can I extend the USB-C Ethernet Cable?

Yes. Use an RJ45 coupler to attach a Cat5E (Cat6, etc.) ethernet cable to the end of the C5-NET.

What version of iOS is required?

iOS 16.5 or later.

Can I use the USB-C Ethernet Cable with other tablets or computers?

Redpark focuses on the iPhone/iPad market. We have not conducted formal testing with a Mac or Windows PC. In limited experimentation we observed that the cable worked OK with a Mac or Windows PC. We have not looked at using the cable with Android tablets.
