Redpark Releases 10/100 Ethernet Cable for iPhone and iPad

Redpark Product Development is now shipping the Redpark Ethernet Cable for iPhone and iPad.

“While wireless networking meets the needs of most iPhone and iPad users, there are times when it is desirable to connect to ethernet” explained Redpark President Mike Ridenhour.

“In some instances Wi-FI may not be available. Even when Wi-Fi is present ethernet can deliver higher reliability and lower latency that may be beneficial for use cases such a live video streaming.”

The Ethernet Cable is a specialty form of USB 2.0 to Ethernet adapter. When connected to an iPad or iPhone running iOS 10 or later, the Ethernet Cable is recognized as a network connection and can be configured in the Settings app on the iOS device.

The Ethernet Cable (part# L5-NET) is licensed under Apple’s “Made for iPhone” (MFi) program, has an MSRP of $69 and is available today.

Redpark Introduces First Gigabit Ethernet Adapters for iPad

iPad ethernet adapter L6-NETPOERedpark Product Development announced today that it is now shipping the first adapters that connect iPad to gigabit ethernet, the Gigabit + PoE Adapter and Gigabit + Power Adapter. These adapters allow iPad customers to connect to ethernet while simultaneously charging the device. “While wireless networking meets the needs of most iPad users, there are times when it’s preferable to connect iPad to ethernet,” explained Redpark President Mike Ridenhour.

“Customers who use iPad point of sale systems, wish to connect iPad to a company’s internal secure network, use iPad in education, or need to get online in poor wireless environments can use these adapters to connect iPad to ethernet.”

Redpark is offering two versions of this adapter, both of which are licensed under Apple’s Made for iPhone (MFi) program:
The Gigabit + PoE Adapter (shown above) connects iPad to ethernet and uses power over ethernet (PoE) to charge the device via a single ethernet cable when connected to a PoE-capable Ethernet switch or PoE injector. It is a PoE (802.3af) Class 0 device, has an MSRP of $99 and is available today at www.redpark.com.

The Gigabit + Power Adapter connects iPad to ethernet and uses an external AC power adapter to simultaneously charge the device. It has an MSRP of $99 and will be available in late September. Each iPad ethernet adapter is a specialty form of USB 2.0 to Gigabit ethernet adapter. When connected to an iPad or iPhone running iOS 10 or later, the adapter is recognized as a network connection that can be configured in Settings on the device.

Both adapters connect to iPad via a replaceable Lightning to USB Micro-B cable, which allows iPad to be mounted or displayed in multiple ways. This cable is sold separately and can be obtained from Redpark or other MFi-licensed suppliers.

The Gigabit + PoE Adapter part # is L6-NETPOE and the Gigabit + Power Adapter part # is L6-NETAC.
